If you are interested in wine and prefer to learn at your own pace rather than in a wine school classroom, I offer engaging tasting seminars in the comfort of your home or at your workplace. You can choose the tasting format, you can invite up to 10 participants —family, colleagues, neighbors, friends — and we will meet and discuss wine. You get to ask as many questions as come to mind, and you take part in shaping the conversation.

I offer three different tasting formats:

1. Introduction to Tasting [$300]: What skills do you need to be tasting a wine like a professional? Can you train your nose and palate to pick out specific aromas and flavors? How do you tell the acid, tannin, and alcohol levels of a wine? How does food alter the flavor of wine?  In this lesson, we taste 6 wines to make you more aware of how you taste.  You will be able to confidently state flavors and aromas preferences in the end.

2. Varietal Tasting [$300]:  What explains the flavor differences in wines made from the same grape? Are you interested in learning about vineyard and cellar techniques that determine aromas and flavors in wine? In that case, a varietal tasting is the right tasting for you! For instance, in "Riveting Riesling" we will taste dry, semi-dry and sweet wines from different regions around the world and learn how versatile the grape is. Tastings of "Crisp Chardonnay" and “Sassy Sauvignon Blanc” showcase Old World and New World examples of the two most popular white grape varieties. “Princess Pinot Noir” and “Count Cabernet Sauvignon” showcase the playful aromatics and deep aromas of the two popular red grapes from around the world. Additional varietal tastings can be arranged.

3. Customized Wine Enjoyment [$500]: I put together a tasting that fits your needs and interests, for instance: Sparkling Wines of the World, Highlights of a Wine Region Tasting, Biodynamic Wines, Drink Pink, Fortify Me, etc. Perhaps you tried something new that you really liked or you read a fascinating article and somehow want to know more. This seminar option helps you become the expert at a particular wine or wine region.

No matter which tasting option you choose, it will be tailored to your specific interests, and you will come away from the experience with more confidence in your own tasting skills and your ability to pick out the next bottle of wine in a wine store. Enhanced wine enjoyment comes from mindful tasting.
